About LBAN
About the Latino Business Action Network (LBAN)
LBAN is a dynamic Silicon Valley-based nonprofit with a big mission to strengthen the U.S. economy by empowering Latino entrepreneurship across the country. We are a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization with a national reach.
LBAN was co-founded by Stanford Professor Emeritus Jerry Porras, alongside a group of Stanford alumni. From that first moment, LBAN has been independent, conceiving, building, and leading its own path.
After decades at Stanford Graduate School of Business studying what makes organizations thrive, Professor Porras recognized both the extraordinary potential of Latino entrepreneurs and the barriers they faced. Too many were building successful businesses without the networks, mentorship, and capital needed to reach the next level.
From the beginning, he insisted on one word: action. LBAN would not be a place where people left inspired but unchanged. It would be a community where meaningful connections lead to real opportunities, where entrepreneurs do business with one another, get business for one another, and grow together. That vision became the mantra: “Do business with each other, get business for each other.”®
Stanford faculty have contributed to that vision ever since and continue to do so today. The direction, the programming, and the research have always been LBAN’s own. That founding vision lives on now through an ecosystem where entrepreneurs from every background help one another succeed.
